OURCU recognizes the significance of early financial education. Our teams engage with young community members through programs and personalize lessons that teach concepts like saving, budgeting, and responsible spending. These initiatives help build a strong foundation for financial literacy through out their financial journey.
Financial Reality Fairs
Thanks to the GoWest Credit Union Foundation, OURCU is proud to help facilitate the BITE OF REALITY, an interactive app based simulation of real-life money challenges created just for teens!
Teens are given a fictional occupation, salary, spouse and family, student loan debt, credit card debt, and medical insurance payments. The teens then walk around to various table-top stations to “purchase” housing, transportation, food, clothing, household necessities, day care, and other needs. Fortunately the game also includes a credit union to help with their financial needs.
OURCU is proud to collaborate with other credit unions and local businesses to bring community volunteers together for this fun event!
